Ford Transit Head Gasket Failure
Ford Transit Head Gasket Failure
A head gasket seals the joint between the cylinder head and engine block. Failure can allow combustion gases, coolant or oil to pass where they should not.
Possible symptoms
• Repeated coolant loss with no obvious external leak.
• Overheating or pressure building in the cooling system.
• White exhaust vapour after warm-up in some cases.
• Misfiring, rough running or poor starting.
• Oil and coolant contamination in some failures.
These symptoms are not conclusive. A qualified technician should inspect the cooling system and perform suitable diagnostic tests.
Why diagnosis matters
Overheating may be caused by a radiator, thermostat, water pump, cooling fan or other issue. Replacing a head gasket without fixing the underlying cause can lead to repeat failure.
Rebuilding specification
Transit Tech's reconditioned engine specification includes a new head gasket, pressure-tested cylinder head, reseated valves and crack-tested block. The precise parts and machining operations depend on the engine.
If the original engine has suffered significant overheating damage, a reconditioned engine may be an option. Request supply-only or supply-and-fit pricing with your registration and engine code.
Prices exclude VAT and fitting. All engines require a usable exchange unit or a £250 + VAT surcharge. Six-month unlimited-mileage warranty subject to written terms.
